I was at Best Buy today and I got to try out the DJ Hero Game. It actually ain't bad! The fader and record action is actually tougher to control than with real DJ'ing, and I have no idea what the hell those buttons on the record are supposed to emulate, but it's pretty fun!

I just posted some of my remixes for you guys to download. 3 of them are some old remixes I did a while back and 1 of them is what I call the A.D.D. mix. This mix is basically very quick, short, and jumps from genre to genre. Get your download on.
Oh yeah, and it was 4 meals.

First off, I gotta apologize for taking the extended layoff. I think it's been about 6 months since my last post. Here's a little warning: I'm about to get pretty real on you, so read on if you want, but feel free to skip this one.
The main reason for going MIA is, around that time, my older sister passed. Needless to say, tough times have come with it. Going through something like that really forces you into deep thought and tough conversations with yourself. Having already gone through this before as a kid when my dad passed, I was really digging deep. Out of all this self-reflection, I realized that I've been half-assing it when it comes to this music production thing, and I need to do something about it while I can.
Back when I was up and coming as a DJ, I would live, eat, and sleep DJ'ing. I use to practice at least 2 - 3 hours EVERYDAY. That's how I got good. It's not like I just sat down in front of the turns and could scratch from the get go. I had to put in the time to get to where I was. These days, I sit down at the keys maybe 2 - 3 hours every two weeks!
It all boils down to 2 main things that are really driving me. 1) God's given me this talent. How stupid would it be of me to not try to actually realize it? And 2) Life is short and I may die tomorrow. You hear it all the time, but once you actually realize and believe it, it's a whole different saying.
So last week, I put together a little "training" regimen to really get me into things. It's only been a week, and I've had no time for TV, I've skipped maybe 3 meals (probably 4 by the end of the night), and I've been missing plenty of sleep. But even with all that, it all just feels right. It's that same feeling I used to have, just grinding away at DJ'ing. And already, I'm beginning to hear a difference.
The second coming of Jay Slim starts now.
